Notably, this year's cohort achieved remarkable success with universities in Hong Kong SAR. The significant increase in offers from the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and other local institutions confirms both the high regard for YCYW's academic standards, and its influence in the regional education field.
Applications to universities in Asia and Australia have increased, particularly to universities in Hong Kong SAR and Singapore. As of 29 March, the Class of 2025 has received 137 offers from universities in Hong Kong SAR, including 56 from the University of Hong Kong and 32 from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Beyond Hong Kong SAR, students have also secured places at leading institutions such as KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) in the Republic of Korea. This trend reflects the students' recognition of the quality of higher education in the Asia-Pacific region.
Students from the Class of 2025 has shown remarkable diversity in their choices of majors. While traditional fields like business, economics, and STEM remain popular, emerging disciplines such as environmental studies, big data, and artificial intelligence are gaining traction. For instance, the undergraduate programme "Artificial Intelligence: Systems and Technologies" at the Chinese University of Hong Kong has attracted significant interest. This breadth of choice highlights the students' engagement with cutting-edge fields and YCYW's success in fostering interdisciplinary and innovative thinking.
To date, the Class of 2025 has received more than four million US dollars in scholarships. These scholarships recognise not only the students' academic excellence but also their future potential. The support will ease the financial burdens, allowing the students to focus more intently on their studies and personal growth.
YCYW has developed a comprehensive and personalised university guidance system to support students at every stage. From exploratory activities in Year 10 (Grade 9 for Yew Wah) to intensive counselling in Year 12 (Grade 11 for Yew Wah), the structured approach ensures tailored support. Each student is assigned a dedicated counsellor for support throughout the process.
In addition, a team of 29 specialist advisors provides expertise in specific disciplines and university systems. For example, art applicants receive portfolio guidance from former admissions officers, while those targeting Japanese or Korean universities benefit from advisors familiar with the local educational systems. Dedicated teams also offer interview training and essay support for applications to Oxbridge and top US universities. Through regular university application seminars and university fairs, YCYW provides opportunities for students and their parents to meet with university representatives.
